The typographic grid is a vital structural tool used by designers to develop an organized layout for effective communication. Instituted by Modernism 150 years ago, the grid quickly became a fundamental principle of the International Style. The grid introduces a systematic order to presenting information and producing the most efficient interpretation by viewers. Designers today continue to mimic those of the past who utilized the grid as a basis for design, evolving it into a foundation of graphic design.
Join us at the University Gallery to celebrate selected grid designers and their work over the years.
